The Menomonie Public Shooting Range and the Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club, LLC are separate entities.

The Menomonie Public Shooting Range is one of three county parks owned by Dunn County Facilities and Parks devoted to the shooting sports. Donations from individuals using the range is the major source of the range's operational funding . At the Menomonie Public Shooting Range, these donations are in the form of range use donations (donations from clients when they use the range). The suggested donation is $5.00 per person per day (see the range rules and regulations for more details). The range use donation money is applied to range operating costs such as: maintenance, including lawn mowing and snow removal, repairs of fences, buildings and range equipment used to maintain the grounds, equipment, and target stands. The money is also used for electricity, office supplies, etc. Major projects are primarily subsidized by grants and corporate donations. The sponsor page lists many of the Range's continuing sponsors. The Club also performs soil testing to ensure compliance with EPA regulations for shooting ranges.

The Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club, LLC. is a club dedicated to the advancement of the sport of firearms shooting. Part of that dedication is a partnership with the Dunn County Facilities and Parks Department. In this partnership, the Rifle and Pistol Club maintains and operates this range for Dunn County and manages a separate bank account containing range donations and grants. Neither the club nor any members receive any money from the range or club funds. The Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club has 33 trained Range Safety Officers (RSO) who ensure the Menomonie Public Shooting Range is operated safely for our customers. This Past year, those RSOs have volunteered 1047 hours to keep the range open to people wishing to use the facility. Our club members have volunteered another 400+ hours to maintaining and improving the Menomonie Public Shooting Range. A few of the projects recently completed include:installing 2 cement pads to provide handicapped accessibility to the picnic tables, a Blue Sky Blocker to prevent bullets from leaving the property, a maintenance building, and a regulation 16 yard, 5-station, voice activated trap range. The Menomonie High School Trap Team expressed interest in the trap range as they had to travel to Boyceville or Durand to practice. The Club solicited donations from several organizations to raise the funds to build the trap range. While the primary purpose was to help the High School trap team, the trap range is open to everyone. See the events page or the calendar page for the dates and times. These improvements fall directly into the county’s vision of providing recreational activities for residents and the club’s vision of promoting shooting sports.

In addition, The Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club provides lead sleds, spotting scopes, sandbags. and eye and hearing protection for clients while using the range at no cost. The club also hosts several events throughout the year. These include women and youth events, the Appleseed project, and Hunter Safety Courses. We also host shoots for non profit organizations where the proceeds are distributed back into our community.

For 2020, the Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club, in the hope of continuing improving the Menomonie Public Shooting range, are hoping to work towards several projects: Improve the 300 yard range, both at the berm and the firing point; replace yardage markers with more visible ones, finish the installation of a well and faucets for washing; perform landscaping to reduce erosion; repair and upgrade one of the outbuildings. A more complete description of the proposed projects is available on the projects page
